The Activate Academy is a three day, two night event for rising ninth graders. Sponsored by Francis Marion University and The Center of Excellence for College and Career Readiness, and designed by local middle school and high school teachers, the Activate Academy will help these students to
- Learn about success strategies to help them in high school
- Explore career possibilities through visits to local businesses and industries
- Receive hands-on instruction in subjects such as science and the arts
- Participate in workshops on goal setting and study skills
During the day, students work with teachers from local school districts and Francis Marion University faculty. Students stay in the residence halls on campus during Activate, and are supervised by specially-trained Resident Assistants who are Francis Marion University students. Our goal is to encourage, inspire, and “activate” curiosity in these students!
There is NO COST to participants! Participants are nominated by their school guidance counselors, and Activate Academy is funded entirely by the Center of Excellence and Francis Marion University. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Nelson or Judy Norris at 843-661-1392 or email us at readiness@fmarion.edu.
