The Center of Excellence for College and Career Readiness is offering a workshop series designed to train middle school, high school, and higher education faculty to deliver effective professional development sessions on issues related to college and career readiness. Those who complete both workshops will serve as members of a statewide network of Readiness Leaders. These leaders will deliver professional development sessions at schools throughout South Carolina, beginning in the 2016-17 school year.
Workshop I August 29, 2015 @USC-Aiken – Participants will read articles and a book on readiness before arriving at the workshop. In this day-long session, participants will discuss the essential elements of readiness and what teachers need to know about teaching them to their students. Participants will choose topics for further research.
Workshop II April 2, 2016 @ SC Dept. of Archives and History – Participants will bring drafts of materials for two professional development sessions to review with their colleagues. Delivery and pacing of professional development will be discussed.
