Summer I is full; only a few spots left for Summer II
We are offering a new graduate course this summer – Advanced Study in Principles of College and Career Readiness. Summer I session runs May 28-June 30, 2022, and Summer II runs from July 6 – August 8, 2022.
EDPD 531 carries 3 hours of graduate credit and will be delivered entirely online. Registration is limited to 25 students for each session and the tuition ($700) will be covered by the Center of Excellence for College and Career Readiness at Francis Marion University.
Students must pay a $25 registration fee (non-refundable) when registering.

What to Expect
In this course, you will be introduced to recent scholarly work about college and career readiness. Through reading, online discussions, interviews, and writing, you will conduct in-depth investigations of specific programs, pedagogies, and initiatives already in place at schools, evaluate their effectiveness, and create action plans to improve student readiness in your workplace.
All course materials will be provided. Course assignments will include reading, online discussions of readings, optional synchronous discussion times, and a final project that connects the reading and discussions with the participants’ teaching in a practical way.
Course Overview
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will:
- Demonstrate an understanding of definitions of college and career readiness.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between particular pedagogical approaches (such as project based learning) and college and career readiness.
- Investigate established programs and initiatives and assess viability for current professional context.
- Articulate the meaning of “readiness” for chosen discipline.
- Create an action plan to improve student readiness in department/institution/
district.
